Through special acquisition programs, the U.S. Army has quickly purchased and sent to Iraq, nearly 500 sensor systems, robots and UAVs for dealing with roadside bombs. But a problem has arisen as many of these items need repair, and special supplies. But the army maintenance troops dont have these special items in their supply system. So troops have to improvise to get supplies, or repairs. This is generating a lot of complaints from the troops, who find some of this non-standard equipment to be very useful, but are getting worn down dealing with all the spare parts and repairs problems. The robots and small UAVs are particularly useful, but when they break down, its often easier to just order up a new one, and toss the one that could be returned to service if a spare part could be found.
