More action in Bujumbura Rural province (the area surrounding Burundis capital). Burundian government officials said 30 more people have died in firefights and ambushes around the capital. The heaviest fighting (according to the Burundian spokesman) occurred around the Ntahangwa Valley. On January 13, the Burundi government reported 12 people died in a series of FNL rebel attacks. The clashes also took place around Bujumbura.
